FP7 partnership

Our group is looking for partners for the EU FP7 ICT Call 5 (closes 3 Nov 09) objectives ICT-2009.3.7 and 3.8. Our specific expertise is in photonics (high power, high speed, mode-locked, injection-locked, mode control, large aperture, vertical cavity/VECSEL, multi-functional integration) especially in experimental characterization, dynamics and novel design. Our ideal partners would have growth/fab, theory and/or industrial or medical end use. We prefer not to coordinate (we’re not insane!) but all things are negotiable and we will do our part and pull our weight. We have a composite photonics group of ~20 people led by myself and Guillaume Huyet. My section of the group is laser dynamics. At UCC/Tyndall we also have complementary expertise in selective area MOCVD (Emanuele Pelucchi), laser and LED fabrication (Brian Corbett), high speed photonic integration (Frank Peters), photonic systems (David Cotter, Andrew Ellis, Bob Manning, Paul Townsend), quantum optics (Sile Nic Chormaic and Thomas Busch), photonics theory (Eoin O’Reilly and Simon Osborne) and fibre nonlinear optics (David Nikogosyan) among others, who could in principle join with us in a single flexible partnership for the right project. We want to push stable mode and injection locking for novel applications, and high power single mode VECSELs or profiled edge emitters for generic/ubiquitous materials processing and medical use, but we are also very open to other novel ideas and directions.

Thanks in advance
