WG1

Romuald Brazis will present a talk:

Photonic waveguides and resonators arranged from the single split rings

R. Brazis (SPI Vilnius), C. Kazakevicius (SPI Vilnius), and R. Narkovic (Uni. Dortmund and SPI Vilnius)

Abstract: Single split-ring resonator coupling to standing and traveling waveguide modes is considered theoretically. Modeling is proved on microwave experiments. Multiple-ring arrays are studied as well. Scaling to optical range is to be discussed.

Section: WG1 (Metamaterials)

WG2

Jose Pozo will report on:

Novel Integrated Tunable Laser with Deeply Etched DBR Mirrors and AWG filter.

Abstract: We present a novel tunable laser in a Photonic Integrated Circuit consisting of a Fabry-Perot laser with deeply-etched DBR mirrors. One of the Fabry-Perot modes is selected using an Arrayed Waveguide Grating and then re-injected into the laser cavity, forcing single mode operation.

The talk addresses Working Group 2, Project WP2.1 “Photonic crystal and microcavity structures for lasing, sensing and telecom applications”.

WG2:

Stefano Penna, “Integrated organic DFB for C-band emission” (to be presented by Giorgio Tosi Beleffi)

WG3:

Francesco Prudenzano, Near and Mid Infrared Photonic Crystal Fiber Lasers (Authors: Francesco Prudenzano (prudenzano@poliba.it) and Luciano Mescia (mescia@deemail.poliba.it) Politecnico di Bari

WG3:

Marcelo Zannin, “High nonlinear fibres for telecom applications”
